Have just build a new PC. The motherboard is MSI B450m max and has 2 M.2 ssd slots.

I have an NVMe M.2 in one of the slots and it's just for the OS and programs.

I need to add a hard drive for my data storage. I only need 1TB. Do I use M.2 for this data drive or should I go for Sata SSD? Is is worth using M.2 for data storage? The sata ssd is £50 cheaper.

Many thanks, Andrew

Hi - was looking at 1TB 970 eve M.2 or 1 TB Crucial 2.5 inch ssd.

As M.2 ssd is supposed to a great place to have your OS and programs, what about having your data drive as a M.2 as well? is there much of an advantage to this?

You can use either. I do.
The Intel 660p listed in my parts list below is strictly for photo work. No OS or applications.

But given a similar price between 660p or 2.5" SATAIII SSD... there is little reason to get the SATA SSD.
