Hi,

VIDEO: http://youtu.be/M5gBqBOKQ2Q

So I've just had my Asus M5A99X motherboard and AMD FX8350 delivered today and I've swapped out the old components for the new ones.

Turns out that it's not as simple as that. Every time I boot, I get a red LED check over my motherboard and then it gets to the "Boot_Device_LED" and stays continuous red on that.

So then the PC starts to boot, it try's to load, gets stuck on the "Windows Starting Up" screen and then gives me the BSoD (Blue Screen of Death)

I then try to use the repair option when I next boot and it can't figure out what the problem is and gives me the option to restart or try to recover to a past back-up date (which I've tried a bunch and it doesn't change the situation)

So yeah, could someone help me out because I've been searching the web since 7pm and have gone in circles 🙁

Thanks a lot guys!

try setting your boot drive to non AHCI (there should be 3 settings - raid, AHCI and some basic setting. You want the basic one - really whatever it was before your upgrade).

Also for a completely different architecture cpu/mobo replacement a reinstall of windows may be needed.

Hi,

I completely forgot about the Windows reinstallation :/

What's the best way to do it, get copy of Windows 7 on a disk and then set the preferred boot drive as the DVD/CD writer?

Thanks,
