weird question

Anyone know a good platform that would allow me to create a single virtual volume display from 20+ drives?
I don’t actually want to use a raid setup. I LIKE having full control over what disk any one file is on… it gives me the ability to add and remove disks at will and know where individual files are.
at the same time, I’d like to be able to run a full drives search and show results from all CHOSEN drives and/or folders.
NeoFinder has come very close to solving my problem bust still has a few issues in use.

Building a cross system set from “folders” requires selecting the volumes “folder”. That requires ejecting some drives first to keep them from indexing; and makes it impossible to keep the bold drive out of the list.
I can manually go back and remove the boot drive.

I have to say neofinder is one of the most powerful file managers I I have used. Good enough to replace my terminal usage. But there are still some minor things….
So I seek to try alternatives until I am sure I’ve found my best option.
