I'm just as confused as everyone else. Why would you need a GTX 480 + Dedicated PhysX processor if this things ALSO runs on the XBox 360 and PS3?

My only hope is that PC version is just that much more impressive than the console version, and that games like Mafia II are signaling the death knell of this generation of consoles. I really can't imagine that a console can produce the same quality as a Core i7 970 + GTX 480 + GTX285PhysX.

My rig isnt up to swpc processor wise(athlon x2 6000+) why is it that the game has a reccomendation for a quadcore and only 2gb RAM? Finally im getting real tired of Nvidia buying off developers so they can push back dev times and make buggy games to support their crappy and overpriced cards. Ive been burned by nvidia cards personally 4 times and ive lost count on the ammount times we get machines with nvida cards that go bad(especially the high end ones, just last week a customier came in with a gtx 280 that started showing artifacts and locking up windows, replaced it with a 5770 and it runs all of his games with all the bells and whistles at the full resolution of his 23" monitor). If I need an Nvidia card to get anything decent out of this game then im going to have to let it pass.

So they recommend a GTX 480 for video, seems a little high, But a GTX 285 just for Physx?!?

P.S. LOL that they are suggesting cards (285) that nvidia doesn't even sell anymore

The game engine was designed for the PC first and foremost from what I can gather. The game will be much more detailed on the PC supposedly. It does appear from the videos and the pictures I've seen to be graphically intensive. However, restricting the special effect to specifically one vendors proprietary source just makes a lot of people mad. Add to that the NVidia won't let you use one of their video cards as just a physx card and you get more angry people. If the game is optimized properly, it should just scream on 4 cores. And yes x87 code for the Physx engine needs to be updated sooner rather than later to something better, SSE maybe?

[citation][nom]Humans think[/nom]With Physx on it will be an nVidia only benchmark.I have a question for the gurus. I have a crossfire capable (2 GPU slots) motherboard (not SLI) and a Geforce 8800GTS, can I keep the Geforce as a physx-dedicated device and install a Radeon for graphics?[/citation]

I found the answer there. For me the answer is No, lucky X58 owners Yes :S

I don't think so.

Played the original and it's great especially the story and presentation, even to this day's standard. It will be great if they can come up with a story that can do justice to the original. Graphics can come second.

Just saw the youtube vid and the graphics aren't too impressive to be honest. But it can be a winner if the game play and storyline are good.

[citation][nom]erdinger[/nom]a Gtx 480 AND a dedicated physiX card wow now that game must be a real graphics wonder or crappy programmed[/citation]
I'd be inclined to lean to the latter...

If anything like metro 2033 (and it seems to be based on minimum apex requirements) then Physx should run just fine on that quad core processor. Sure, having a GTX480 and a dedicated physx card may be nice but I highly doubt it will be required. I'm sure my i7 + 5870 will do just fine.

Also, to they guy who blamed DX9 on MS and the xbox, did you forget that the PS3 is also DX9. Blame consoles if you want but why point the finger at just one? What exactly has Sony been doing to advance graphics? Nothing.

Last but not least, high requirements all across the board does not necessarily mean "greatest graphics ever" as this is a sandbox game. Most of that power is probably in use bringing the city to life. I for one love the fact that games are starting to stress my system again.

Mafia was a beast on my system back in the day because it was 100% awesome, I assume this will be the same scenario.

lol you've got a point!!!

i mean c'mon whats with the nvidia orchard? when will game developers address what Ati are capable of?

I hate seeing the Nividia and/or Intel logo when I boot up a game. They are hurting the already fragile PC gaming market. I can't even run borderlands in Crossfire with my 5870's.

Just make the damn games work on all hardware, use Havoc! I think HL2 still has some of the best physics in the industry.

I make my GPU purchases based off of who has the best Benchmarks not who has the most proprietary features 😛.

These requirements are insane.

Why dont Game Developers take lesson from the success story of CoD:MW2 ? Highly compatibility from old to new machines & still looked pretty. I dont see a point in increasing details.

Can anyone appreciate more depth & details that was available in CRYSIS at max settings & 8x AA, while on a killing spree or finishing mission ???

[citation][nom]regulas[/nom]Before anyone whines about only DX9, you can thank MS and the Crapbox 360 for that. The XP support will die off though. Vista and Vista SP2 (Windows 7) use the same kernel.[/citation]
You also forgot to thank sony, considering the PS3 uses DX9 hardware as well. Of course, like most modern games Mafia 2 will also have a DX10 mode, so what was the complaint again?

Came on those graphics are not even that good to ask for 600us in graphic card and 450us in motherboard and CPU. Stop the BS!

This is why I don't bother with PC games anymore. The constant battle of whose video card is supreme. Which one will show all the effects? Which one that will have the fastest fps? Do you have the 265 or the 480 or SLI or Crossfire or blah blah blah?
