MAFIA II System requirements:

Recommended Processor: 2.66 GHz Core i7-920
Recommended GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480

MAFIA III System requirements:

Recommended Processor: 3.33 GHz Core i7-980x or better?
Recommended GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 on SLI configuration or ATI equivalent or better?

Or don't play the game

Mafia was a great game and lots of people call it a GTA clone but in reality it was actually in development before GTA 3 and remained in development for much longer. I think this is one of the key factors
that made the game so great is that they spent so much time on it
and really worked as hard as they could to make the best game to their capabilities.

I do hope that they continue the series and that II is at-least as good of game as the first. I wouldn't mind if they ventured out of the past and into modern times either the Mafia world was much more realistic than GTA.

Good god with those kinda requirements the game better also rub my back, cook me supper, and tell me it loves me before i go to bed each night 😛

Just like Crysis. It's probably a GREAT game, but no one will buy it because they cannot afford to upgrade their computers. Unfortunately, Crysis DID come out when the recession hit. Things aren't as bad now, as they were then but still not good, so I guess there's somewhat hope.

[citation][nom]kartu[/nom]Now, it wasn't enough that we are bound to windows with Microsoft DirectX in PC gaming, we also need to buy crapocards from nVidia or feel the power of 8087 instruction set...[/citation]OK I agree with the Nvidia-or-8087 part. But bound to DirectX? Hardly. Developers choose DirectX over OpenGL because it blows OpenGL out of the water. Blame Khronos for falling behind, instead of blaming Microsoft for pushing the envelope.

[citation][nom]Smochina[/nom]lol, and after the game will fail miserably sales wise, they will blame piracy of course. Some developers never learn, you do not build games for 'tomorrow' hardware, unless you are a stupid moron who doesn't want to sell his games.Let's take a look at Starcraft 2, it even runs on machines with onboard graphics cards. Wow, imagine that.[/citation]

Why, because people can't run it on max settings? Many people are more than happy with medium/high settings. Metro 2033 for example, I can't run it max as I don't have 3xGTX480 (single 5870) but it still looks better than most games on high (and even medium) settings. Mafia II will probably look just fine on less than max settings but if you happen to have an insane rig then you actually benefit visually from that hardware instead of just scoring 900fps which means nothing.

I think they guy with the E8400 and 5850 is right, his rig will probably perform well and look great while doing so. The minimum specs are a pentium D and a 3870, to think that any decent dual core rig with a high end (last gen) or mainstream card (this gen) will not make this game look good is just hating for no reason other than a spec sheet.

And yes, let's take a look at starcraft 2 because comparing a graphically minimalistic RTS to a highly detailed sandbox game makes so much sense. Just think, you only have to buy SC2 three times to play the whole game on your integrated chipset. Although I do hate their release model I will say Blizz art style is always top notch which gives their games long legs. Not a blizzard hater but screw this expansion pack BS.

[citation][nom]erdinger[/nom]a Gtx 480 AND a dedicated physiX card wow now that game must be a real graphics wonder or crappy programmed[/citation]

EXACTLY. here's hoping for the former...

so sick of games where it just turns out the high system requs have come from the dev just lazily slapping half a dosen bits of middle-ware together.. GTA4, i'm looking at you....

Huge fan of the original Mafia. My favorite game for several years. Looking forward to this, bring on the highest hardware settings you push! I matured as a gamer during the push the hardware phase, and I miss it.

Provided that the story and gameplay is good, Mafia II is going to be one of the best games of all time. The recommended RAM is good. The quad cores are really needed because look at the videos and see the actions of the NPCs, they are so diverse.I've never seen such a thing in any game. And the graphics requirements are those required for playing with PhysX on highest.I'm sure that the Radeons will be able to run the game just as well, albeit with PhysX turned off.And those who are bashing it shut up and play the original Mafia for a change.

[citation][nom]jednx01[/nom]That is rediculous. If the games can run on consoles, there should be no reason why the system requirements should be this high. The game better have insanely good graphics in order to justify graphics requirements being this high...[/citation]
What if console have tuned down graphic like in many other games. And I personally don't believe it would be just console port as then it would not need physx.
Original Mafia had awesome story and gameplay and believe sequel can be even better.
