Question Malwarebytes has eliminated old lifetime licenses

I have four licenses from way back, when Malwarebytes sold lifetime licenses, with these licenses having both key & ID. One of the systems was acting up, so I deactivated Malwarebytes, wiped the drive, and reinstalled Windows 10. When I installed Malwarebytes and tried to activate it, I discovered that Malwarebytes no longer accepted key & ID. It demanded that I give it the email address used for the licenses, which I configured years ago. So I tried to login, only to discover that my account was no longer valid. So much for lifetime.

For the most part all that is needed these days is Windows Security/Defender.

Did you contact Malwarebytes support?

What, if any, was their response?

Apparently, Malwarebytes - free still exists.

However it starts off as a 14 day free trial of Premium and then reverts to a basic removal tool sans any blocking or preventative functions/features.

The setup executable (MBSetup.exe) downloaded very quickly.

Visit their website:

Contact support, check the Community Forums.

There may be something that can be done. However, that "something" will need to come from Malwarebytes.

USAFRet said it best, I think. Licenses will likely continue to function until you have to reinstall.

As for the response of support, I was informed that my account did not exist. We can debate whether it is due to incompetence or malice, but my licenses are gone. Too bad I did not save an earlier version that allows for key & ID so I could do further testing.

By the way, the free version regularly annoys the user with offers to buy a current license.

I reinstalled Windows 11 six months ago and I had no problems with reactivating my lifetime license (using my account).

I'm guessing that you've already tried creating a new account. If you haven't, I found the following info at https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/252439-resolved-lifetime-license-transfer/ which may help

You can sign up at My.Malwarebytes.com for an account using if possible the same email address you used when you originally purchased your license .... Details on signing up can be found in
https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1036 and if you need to manually add your license key to your account (if for example you had to use a different email address when signing up due to the original email address you used when you purchased your license no longer being active) you will find information on how to do so in https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-1036

Also, if you happen to have a full system or disk backup with your old Malwarebytes on it (and don't mind clobberring whatever you've installed since then), you can try restoring your system back to what it was like to see if Malwarebytes still works.
