it's not illegal if you have a class 3 license. but it's expensive... that's what he was getting at

It is completely legal to own semi-automatic weapons in any state
Utah does not have any OPPRESSIVE UNCONSTITUTIONAL laws like Kalifornia and such. Semi automatic simply means one shot per every squeze of the trigger until out of ammo. that has nothing to do whatsoever with a machine gun which is FULL-auto. Lot's of anti-gun LIBTARDS even on toms hardware, amazing.

last time that server BSOD'ed on them

Why not blame the company that made the server for not making them resistant to bullets? the corporate world can be a dangerous place.

What, you never heard of a double tap?

I see your point, but some of prefer to shoot a round that goes down range faster than we can walk. Some of us also like double stack magazines with double digit capacities. Remember, it is not the size that counts...

Joshua was assigned to install Novell Netware 3.11 on the new server. The IT manager figures if Netware ran good enough on a 486 PC, imagine how fast it would run on a $100,000 hardware.

ever hear of the Springfield Armory XD45 ? it features side-stacked magazines that give it a capacity of ::gasp:: 14 rounds! 😛

now if you're talking about a 1911, then your point hits WAYY too close to home!

China is part of the developed world?

Switzerland where every man is issued an automatic weapon and ammo by the government?

What's wrong with 9 mm? That is the standard the world over. You can buy 9 mm ammo in every country on earth. Good luck finding .40 or .45 outside of the USA. Also, US Secret Service use 9 mm ammo. Not in a hand gun, but in the H&K MP5 sub-machine guns that they carry.

Plus 9mm is noticeably cheaper than .40 or .45 so if you do a lot of recreational range shooting like I do, it makes a big difference.

I think you meant to say UNdeveloped countries. Places where everyone is banned from owning a gun, the criminals run rampant. Look at Mexico. Guns are banned there. Yet mexico has more murders in a week than the US has in an entire year. In contrast, look at Switzerland. The Swiss have the highest gun ownership percentage in the world. And one of the lowest murder rates in the world too. Last year, more people in Switzerland were stabbed to death, than were shot. In summary, guns prevent violent crime, because the criminals are going to own them no matter what the law says.

[citation][nom]falchard[/nom]I agree, who would want to be an IT guy for a company that clearly does not understand they overpayed nearly $100k on a server.[/citation]

It could be a cluster of servers with total worth or a 10 year old server that did cost $100k at that time then I'd def put it out of it's misery! lol

For the Class 3 comments:

You have two options, you can (A) Apply for a Class 3 permit, which costs upwards of 10k and an extensive background check (6mo to a Year if I'm not mistaken). Or (B) apply for a Class 3 stamp which costs only costs two hundred dollars but is only good for one purchase (e.g. 1 suppressor, 1 firearm). The background check is substantially shorter (4-8 weeks) and is cheaper in the long run if not making that many purchases.

I am seriously shocked how much tom's hardware readers know about guns and even more so about how ignorant some of them seem to be.

Guns don't kill people, ... yeah right.

If this dude did not have a gun to shoot the server he would have woken up with a huge hangover. Sure "real" criminals would get guns if they want them but most gun accidents and a lot of gun violence would be solved if guns where banned. Switzerland does not supply automatic weapons to civilians and i really don't know how that myth even came to be. Truth be told yes there are a lot of guns here but as you might know since you seem to know the statistics hand guns are illegal and so is anything else that is not directly meant for hunting purpose.

Guns don't kill but give the opportunity to kill and that should be reason enough.

You know what else gives the oppurtunity to kill? Forks. Everyone should have to use spoons with rounded edges from now on. We cannot trust civilians with forks. They might kill someone with the lethal weapon.

[citation][nom]bv90andy[/nom]Best news all week. So is he charged with first degree murder? Servers are like children, or pets... especially a server that costs 100000$.[/citation]

I dunno about murder. Shucks, we (as a country) murder unborn children every day.

Now, I'd like to know why he isn't charged with discharging a firearm within city limits, or into a structure (most states forbid these). And how about criminal damage / destruction of property?
