Question Man, I'm having a problem with my GPU? and Elden Ring.

So when I'm playing Elden Ring, every time a mob attacks me and the screen gets a little busy, my (GPU,Computer?) freezes for a split second, disconnecting my controller which resets. This leaves me just standing there for 2 or 3 seconds while the controller reconnects. I have tried every fix given to me by perplexity.ai and nothing works. I have also noticed that my browser freezes sometimes while on the internet, not sure if it's related. I read that it might be a conflict between my AMD and Nvidia? All my game settings are on medium, I'm playing windowed borderless. I also need to figure out how to change my Nvidia settings as an admin, even when I open as administrator it says I dont have permission to make changes.

Any one else have this problem?

Thanks

Graphics card is 8GB with multiple GPUs installed
I have an internal SSD with Elden Ring installed and an old external HDD connected.

Event Viewer-System has the following warnings:

Event Viewer-System has the following errors:
The GameInput Service service terminated unexpectedly

The GameInput Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 5 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 1000 milliseconds: Restart

I have noticed just know that these errors are occurring while I'm in game.

Thanks!

What USB Device(s) are plugged in - that old external HDD via some USB connected case? If a case, does the case have its' own power source? (Versus relying on PC power via one of system USB ports.)

Other USB devices?

= = = =

For the moment, try running "dism" and "sfc /scannow" to find and fix any buggy or corrupt Windows files that may be involved and contributing to the logged problems.

Beyond that I will defer to the PC-Gaming Community in regards "EasyAntiCheat", "GameInputService", and "USBSTOR".

I found this thread on the problem maybe being caused by having the XBox app installed on my PC. Just uninstalled it. Haven't tested it yet. What do you think?

I have my controller plugged into one port, and a splitter with 4 ports plugged into the other port. This one has my keyboard, mouse, and external HDD. It is not independently powered. My external HDD is full of errors in event viewer, its 15 years old and cannot be updated. It works fine though for all my games installed on it. (Elden ring is on internal SDD). I will follow your instructions (Thanks!) and see what happens. I will also try to disable the Easy Anti-cheat and see if that helps.

What PSU (make, model, wattage) is installed?

And look for an USB hub/splitter that has its' own power source.

Plus, if you have not already done so, be sure to back up all important data at least 2x to locations away from the host system and drive(s) in question. Verify that the backups are recoverable and readable.

Sorry, I didn't know how to find that info. I just ran a power report, but its a long long text. Do you want me to post it here or is there a better way?

Edit: is this it?

Edit 2: I never run the battery, I keep it plugged in at all times.

Desktop or laptop?

I was thinking desktop.

If desktop and you do not otherwise have the PSU information via the documentation then you will need to power down, unplug, and open the case to look.

Only do that if you are comfortable with doing so. Otherwise find a knowledgeable family member or friend to help.

Laptop: make and model? What power report did you run?
