Hi all,
I have been given this old tractor drive Mannesmann Tally MT81 printer, never actually heard of it myself and I would like to find a driver for it. Just playing around with it, could anyone point me in the direction of a website for support if there is still a site please?

For which O/S do you need a driver? Windows '98/Me (probably '95 and almost certainly 2000 too) have an MT81 driver on the CD.

If the printer is of a standard configuration, that should work fine.

Thankyou, I wil see if I can find it

Yep I can see it on the WinME CD but I can't get it to run.

Did the printer manufacturer get taken over by some other company?

The company still exists, just named Tally.

Their website is http://www.tally.com but it isn't very good.

The UK site has a drivers page http://www.tally.co.uk/default_pdrivers_int.htm although I guess it won't be much use to you.

They purport to support the older printers, but the site doesn't have any tech literature and FAQ's don't extend back to prehistoric beasts like the mt81.

If the machine is functional but you can't get it to work, it's probably down to a dip-switch setting (eg it's set for serial interface and you're using parallel, etc...). You might try mailing Tally support for more info.

Thankyou Hammerhead.
