Hello, I'm new to the community and haven't been in the building space since ages ago.

My MoBo went out a few years ago and would like to upgrade it so that way I can upgrade the GPU in the future.

Specs of reused parts:
Case: Corsair 350D mATX
PSU: Corsair Supernova 850 G2
GPU: EVGA 1080 Ti SC
Storage: Various SSD's
Monitor: ASUS ROG PG279Q

I'm looking to get a good but not great MoBo, CPU, Liquid cooler, and RAM to bring this build back to life. I will in about 18 to 24 months want to upgrade the PSU and GPU as well as the monitor to something 4K and similar specs to the ROG I have now.

I don't know what is better AMD or Intel anymore or AMD and Nvidia either for that matter, but the latter is a consideration for later.

I'd like to be able to play some of the following games with very smooth 2K or 4k 120fps+:
Starfield with some mods
Halo Infinite
Atomic Heart
Cyberpunk 2077 w/ mods
RoboCop: Rogue City
etc.

Budget I'm looking to spend for the current upgrade of the MoBo, CPU, Liquid cooler, and RAM:
~$400-$600 (maybe $750 but I'd rather not).

Thank you for any and all advice. Please let me know if further information would help in the decision making and advice given.

The #1 thing to remember in your case is space. I say that because your current case only supports mini-ITX or Micro-ATX motherboards.

I would recommend going to pcpartpicker.com (if located in the US and maybe the UK) and type in either of those and it will usually populate the more popular of those styles. Once you have an option chosen, it will help you maintain compatibility, etc. by telling you if something possibly isn't compatible such as memory.

Here is a quickie I just threw together. (Keep in mind that the re-used parts indicated may not match perfectly to what you have):

Please keep in mind that you can change out and swap to your liking directly from that list as well to suit your wants/needs.

Do you think that it would be better for cooling purposes to get a larger ATX case? I live in the South East US. Hot and humid. I try to keep the room under 80F.
Would ATX Mobo's be cheaper or on the same range in price? More features for the money?

I don’t think you’ll see a significant enough difference onmotherboard costs.

As far as costs, I know am4 is slightly cheaper but you may consider looking at Intel and their 12th or 13th generation.

I just picked up an i5 12600kf a day or two ago for $140 from Amazon. For a cooler I got the Thermalright peerless assassin for just under 40 bucks. Could look at something in that range. A couple of days ago Newegg had an asrock z690 board for 99.99.
