I am planning on building an mATX portable LAN gaming PC. I hear however that that mobos in that size are horrific for the FX series of AMD CPUs. Is that true, should I go with an A10 CPU instead? Or can you make an FX-8350 work well on an mATX board and keep it cool enough to game. (of so...mobo recommendations pls).

Then you will have to go FM2 with something like this..

AD760KWOHLBOX - AMD Athlon X4 760K Black Edition, Unlocked, Richland, Quad Core, S FM2, 3.8GHz, 4MB Cache, 100W, Retail

Asus F2A85-M PRO AMD A85X Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard

Then buy one of these..

CW-9060008-WW - Corsair H80i Hydro Series CPU Cooler, LGA 115x, 1366, and 2011 & AM2, AM3, FM1 and FM2

And OC the crap out of the CPU

Well i was assuming you were building a gaming rig for lan partys and would therefore be purchasing a seperate GPU in which case the apu is a waist of money and the Athlon i stated OCs better and CPU wise is just as strong so save the money and invest it in the gpu.
