I am tossing this ECS 848P-A motherboard (no driver support)and I am wondering if ANY motherboard manufacturer actually provides drivers for onboard sound and USB2 that really work (for windows98se AND windows 2000). ECS ignores you.
Is it better to forget about motherboard manufacturer's driver support and use PCI cards for the sound and USB2
(like with the old 440bx)? How much am I going to have to spend now to get a good mboard to support this 3.00G prescott and a 512 mb kingston valueram (PC3200)? If anyone has actual experience that worked out good (like with the older 440bx's), please respond. littleberry

Abit's boards come with a good driver pack, the IS7 is full of features and cost around $90. As for your particular software, 98SE drivers are never garunteed and Win2k drivers sometimes require SP4.

heya littleberry;

I agree Abit IS7 is the way to go. Make sure you get just the IS7 with no other numbers or letters added to the name.

I ll agree with the others about the IS7. you can check out the driver support @ http://www.abit-usa.com/downloads/driver/drivers.php?categories=1&model=79
There may be a problem with the realtech lan on 98SE.
Sound, and USB2 are supported.
