Memory Problem

hey guys, i got a new comp:

AMD 1.3
Asus A7A
512 Micron DDR 2100
Win2k

The thing is, the computer won't boot when I put in a second stick of ram, but will boot with either stick of ram by itself..

What's up?

ALSO: Booting with both gives weird freezes & errors at Windows screen.

I'm flashing the bios now and will try a safe boot in a second.

Any ideas?

Flashing the bios eventually fixed it.

Anyone know wtf that was all about?
