Can anyone explain what and how much of a difference using DD3-1600 (7-8-7-20) vs DD3-1333 (lat: 9-9-9-24) will make on gaming performance on a i7 950 build. Program drive c300 128G with 4X 1T Samsung f3s in RAID 10. Probably a Gigabyte GA-EX58A-UD3R mobo and HD5750

Trying to finalize all the components and get the best possible price before I make myself nuts with all the shopping and comparisons. Thanks for the inputs/suggestions

Very little if any difference in gaming, you might also be able to tighten the timings with out a voltage bump. How much are you willing to spend on some ram? I might be able to suggest some modules for ya.

I'm building a system from sratch with the below components but trying to figure out how to bring it to $1300 .

Component QTY Unit Total
Gigabyte GA-EX58A-UD3R 1 210 210
Intel i7 950 1 230 230
Crucial RealSSD C300 (128G) 1 260 260
Corsair D6GB DDR3 1600 Triple 1 150 150
Tower Case w/ cooling 3 fans 1 100 100
1TB Sata 3 storage (smsung f3s RAID 10) 4 60 240
DVD writer 1 60 60
Windows 7 1 100 100
HD 5870/$270 or HD 5750/$135 1 135 135 (add a 2nd one xfire when $ allow)
1485

Priicng is either Newegg, Microcenter or CompUSA.

The DDR3-1333 only saves about $40 but I wasnt sure how that impacted the performance. May need to go down to a 64G SSD or find some of the components (HD5750, i7-950, Mobo etc) on ebay to get to $1300 limit.

Any suggestions are welcome as this is my first build from scratch.

true that gets me there or I guess I could get only a used 64G. I just figured an SSD would get me booted and load programs much faster. With the 4 1T RAID setup it may be fast enough loading.
