Im running memtest on a friends pc as he thinks there may be a problem with his memory.
I have some questions though.

How many passes should I do for each memory module?
How many errors mean the RAM is bad?
Right now there are 2 passes and 3 errors.

Thanks, I'm new to using memtest86+.

AFAIK, even one error is enough to indicate the module is bad, isn't it? Don't take my word for it, though, let's wait for more input... it's just that good memory won't throw a single error during a 4-hour test (that's like what, at least 3 passes?)

i finished testing that module (i tested it for 4.5 hours) and it was 8 passes and 8 errors. is it a bad module?

i'm testing the other one now, around 3 passes and no errors.

Yes, it's a bad module. Other one looks okay, since there're no errors.

Ok thanks, the computer works properly without the module that has errors, so that's probably the cause of the computer's problem.
I have another question though-
Is there also a possibility that the motherboard slot the memory is in is the problem?
The working 2GB stick is not in the same slot as the bad one.

One error means you RMA the matched set ... you don't decide to keep until it runs overnight (12 hours) .... and if they came in the same package, return the whole package.... you want another matched set back.
