Metal Expansion Slot removal issues

I was trying to remove the slots in the back of my Rosewill ATX Mid Tower Gaming Computer Case and when i go to bend the slot covers back and forth the skinny pieces in between the slot covers starts to bend as well. Any suggestions?

Don't bend the slot covers so far. Just bend them enough to allow repetitive back and forth flexing. Eventually the piece will break free.
