I just randomly started having problems with this game out of the blue with no explanation or cause. The game has been on the most recent update since I started playing it again-- I never got around to finishing it because of a huge library of other games I'd been going through. I'd been playing it fine for days with 60fps+ at 1440p on an RX 480 and a FX-8350 @4.2Ghz. One day though, I booted up the game from sleep mode (which I always had) and noticed a pretty horrendous controller lag (using wireless Xbox One adapter on Win7) which were causing the camera and other inputs to go haywire! I'm also now getting continuous micro-stutters every 2-3 seconds which make aiming and other controls downright impossible-- in turn, making the game unplayable.

This has been absolutely driving me crazy for like a month now; even more so that it happened right out of the blue. I've done everything in my power to fix it with no avail.....DDU'd drivers and reinstalled, lowered settings, ran memory and BIOS check....you name it nothing has worked. I even just recently upgraded to a GTX 1080 Ti (not because of this problem, I had my pre-order down for a while for an upgrade) and this game still has this random problem. I've checked other games and they all run fine-- it seems to only be affecting this game....and again, it happened just randomly one night and continues to happen right out of the blue when it used to run perfectly. So after the GPU upgrade, I think I've concluded that it is NOT a GPU problem and must be something else. Does anyone know what could have caused this problem?? Is my RAM doing something in particular to this game? I've run Malwarebytes and a Norton full system and nothing out of the ordinary has been found. Any help would greatly be appreciated, thanx.

Well after months of frustration I've think I've finally pinpointed the problem (*somewhat). This has had nothing to do with any hardware problem, but rather a software problem I believe. I went ahead and navigated to the save folder for TPP; in it, I noticed that duplicate files had been being created that were basically identical to the main save but that they had an "_0" or an "_1" after the main file.....so it was basically duplicates of the main saved game data "TPP_GAME_DATA". I knew this because the modification time on each file was identical, but that some of them were last edited about 2 months ago-- oddly enough, that is around the same time as when my problems started to occur. So I went ahead and deleted these duplicated files as well as any other duplicates that were being created and then finally I also went ahead and turned off MalwareBytes (because I read someone else did something similar). I booted up the game and voila!!! It finally runs as it should be! Deleting those extra saves also didn't mess with my original save; so I basically started back where I left it......now I'm not sure if these extra saves are causing the problem or if Malwarebytes is, but I know for sure one of them is! Also, I'm not sure if these duplicate saves are part of a checkpoint within the game or what, because this game doesn't allow for multiple saves of the same game progress.
