Hiya,

I was hoping to get some help in regards to a microphone setup for general use such as gaming and discord.
My old mod mic is on its last legs so I think its time for an upgrade.

I use the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro 250omh and I don't plan on changing them for a headset with a mic.
I am also using an Asus Essence stx ii 7.1 with a 3.5mm to 6.35mm jack adapter going directly into the back of the sound card.

I want to keep using this 6.35mm jack on my sound card so I would prefer a non USB mic.
I am looking at getting a boom arm so I can position the mic away from my 2 screens as I don't have much room on my desk as you can see from the attached picture.
This way it doesn't block my screens.

I have done some surfing around but I don't know much about mics. I think that I need to go down the road of an XLR mic but I don't know how the setup would be for that.
Plus from what I have seen it looks to be quite expensive with the added interface needed. I'm not looking to break the bank so a £150 setup would be the max, not sure if that's a realistic amount or not though.

I'm after a full setup so any suggestions would be great.
And yes, I do have a new mouse pad on its way.

I have found a decent enough mic for my needs. If anyone stumbles across this post with a similar question to mine then here are the details.

I picked up the T20 Tonor XLR Condenser microphone kit. This included the boom arm, shock mount and a pop filter. It is all very entry level but serves my needs perfectly.
You will need to supply the mic with 48v phantom power which can be solved by using a phantom power supply. I brought a Neewer 1-channel phantom power supply which works perfectly.
Last of all I also needed an XLR female to 6.35mm male cable to plug it into my sound card.

This needed no drivers as I'm using a sound card just plug and play. Of course make sure to configure it in your sound settings and change your default...

It cost me as total of £105, so not a bad deal in my eyes.
