I asked my family they have heard of Bing an they are like "What is Bing?". I use Google, an so do they. I dont know about Bing because I've used google for over 8 years or so. You use what you know works and will help you find and finish what your doing. Why switch and learn something new which takes longer. I know MS was tring to get new computer users to use Bing and IE8 because I would say over 99% of new computer users will use what they have and given to them.

"Why switch and learn something new"

Because otherwise we would all still be using DOS. LOL!
Actually... probably adding machines or an abacus... maybe groups of fingers and toes.

Progress in life is based on the Learning Something/Trying Something New principal. It is what got you off the teet.

Why are people getting the thumbs down for posting their honest opinions about the inferiority of bing? I know we're all impressed by Microsoft because of Windows7 but let's not lose sight of the fact that bing isn't all that good. I tried it, and while it's not terrible, it's also not as precise as google, and I don't think it deserves much credit. It's a nice try, but why use bing when google is simply just right.

[citation][nom]ssalim[/nom]Internal changes? All changes need to go through test site first. What were they thinking?[/citation]

Lots of unforeseeable things can happen to a site once it goes live, but they could've used an internal test domain. Unless they were worried about version control (test version vs. real version), then they should've used a test domain.

Huh I did not know that. I take it back then. Idk why I don't hear about this stuff.

[citation][nom]backIn5[/nom]Am I the only one who finds the idea of letting MS make my decisions for me terrifying?[/citation]

What would be true in the above statement would apply to any search engine you use.

[citation][nom]Cushgod[/nom]why would I use Bing, so I can see what Microsoft want me to see... I d rather have Google anyday, never had any trouble finding anything on Google,m why would anyone switch, ,oh that's right when you upgrade to IE8 it tries to default everything to Microsoft. Bing included... lame!! and people are lazy and probably think Bing is googling.... LOL.[/citation]
Google is equally evil buddy. No escaping corporate giant evilness

Guess they didn't fully test this in their labs before rolling it into production.

Then again..we're beta testers, right?

It seems people forget Google makes similar mistakes with its other teething services. How many times has Gmail gone down since it left Beta? How times has Hotmail gone down since Gmail left Beta? in the last 2 years? 3 years? since its release?

Bing is new, it's going to have some growing pains. This is probably the classic error, "Well I only changed one little thing and it worked in the test system." Unfortunately, no test system is a complete substitute for the real thing. If it was, then your OS (read ANY OS) would only need additional feature updates.

Services going down is just a fact of new technology. No company (even Apple) is immune.

[citation][nom]enzo matrix[/nom]Does anyone here even use bing? comment if you do.[/citation]
I use Bing all the time. Most of us in my office have also switched to Bing as the default. Google is still better for some kinds of seraches, but Bing's top 10 results are nearly always either the same, or from newer pages and sites.

Bing is also MUCH better for images, videos, and shopping. Unlike Google, it's image results are all on one page so you don't need to keep flipping through several pages.

Many businesses also participate in Bing's rebate program when you purchase from them from Bing's serach engine/decision engine whatever.

Sure I use Bing. I like competition in any market.

I would suspect that the real reason that the system went down was to the massive influx of the 15 people that switched to Bing from google in a previous story.....

Sometimes change is good. I do use Bing sometimes. Like some users said here, sticking to "one brand" is not necessary. I use both- we now have a choice and can use both. I believe Bing can probably get better and better than Google. I'm tired of seeing Google install scheduled tasks unauthorized on people's computers too.
