[citation][nom]acadia11[/nom]While most of this is marketing FUD, I will agree on many of the points, and mostly on Windows 7, is actually better than Mac OS X. I have both. Windows 7 is the most well put together OS MS has ever created and it's the easiset to use and cleaniest. I dare say this is finally a worthy successor to XP.[/citation]

I know, I gave windows XP a bigger partition than my windows 7 and regret it now as I am using windows 7 every day.

@user-one: Popularity has nothing to do with quality. Otherwise Lady Gaga would be the best musician, and HP would be the best PC maker.

Apple make many good, easy to use computers and mobile devices. They market them well, and many people from the highest level of the IT industry to the computer illiterate grandmother use their products. At the moment they are doing a better job than Microsoft. Microsoft is launching one failure after another. (Zune, Kin, Bing) They are getting desperate, and it's showing.

It seems to be the beginning of the end of the Microsoft era. Now it's time for Apple, Google, and Linux.

You make me laugh, windows 7 is anything but a failure.

[citation][nom]DjEaZy[/nom]... for OS X i needed 15 minutes to understand... for windows? ... all my life... i did a repair a white 13'' macbook once... for the first time in my life... it's not often we see a macbook in Latvia... the repair went easy, the backup of data went easy, the installation went super easy... after i repaired it, i asked my self, why so easy... to understand, to repair... and it was the first time in my life... before i have repaired many pc's... a struggle with each of them... and i figured out... PC/Windows machines are there to give me job's... get it... JOB'S...[/citation]

Great post on your experiences!!

You'll get lots of negative clicks from the windoze 10 year olds.

[citation][nom]ravewulf[/nom]It's about time they got revenge for the "I'm a Mac/I'm a PC" ads from Apple. Course they missed one big point: price[/citation]

MS just did the Jedi hand wave with "You like what you have been using. You're too stupid to use something else. Be happy."

Sorry you fell for it. Not all of us have weak minds!

I support, meaning I work on both platforms at a publicly funded organization and I can tell you that Enterprise = Microsoft. Uppity Marketing or designers = Apple. Enthusiasts who have less than a grand to spend = Microsoft. Hipster yuppies = Apple.

Both platforms have much to offer but Microsoft gives you more for your money and gives the user a big big thing: choice. Choice is the great thing about market share and an open hardware allowance.
LINUX=almost the best of both worlds if you have the knowledge and time to learn. Ubuntu FTW

[citation][nom]nevertell[/nom]Talking about "Macs don't let you choose". Well, does microsoft share their Direct "something" libraries ? Every single thing about windows network sharing had to be reverse engineered to be compatible with linux and other os's. Then there were the font fiasco. Vistas's drm. It's like they said on "Top Gear" recently. It's hard to choose a winer since they both lose.[/citation]

but that proves him right: you pay 5000 bucks for a computer that should only cost 1200.

I disagree with their "dont work well at school or work" and "dont like to share" sections, i use windows 7 on my personal machines, but i work with a couple of Macs and they havent given me any trouble with sharing you just cant be silly and send them an XLSX and expect it to be perfect.

[citation][nom]mlopinto2k1[/nom]Hyundai has a sweet two seater turbo coupe... it's relatively inexpensive and doesn't require you to pay 5,000 a year on insurance. FAIL[/citation]

that means he's right: you pay mac 5 grand for a comp. that costs 1500 to make.

I dare anyone to tell me how to access DFS shares without third party software on a Mac. Even Domained 10.6 chokes on DFS. unless you use dummy samba shares or simple sharing which is a security no no for those who know.
I had a guy at the apple store try to sell me a apple server yesterday to deal with inaccessible shares on my network. What a joke. $5600 for a server worth 1200. single socket quad xeon for $5600. Smoke another one hippie.

Wow, you guys' message is "Apple blows"? Really? I guess the deterioration of this site quality is largely a result of them keeping up with the idiocy of the readership.
Re: Article
How is non-compatibility between MS and OSX a sign that MS is superior?! OSX takes a while to learn? Well, so does your new TV remote. MS play well with XBox360 out of the box? I should bloody well hope so. Haven't had problems connecting my macbook to any tv or PS3, yet. Didn't have to buy a dongle, either. Media Sharing? I can access my itunes library from my phone or my PS3 without any additional cost.
WTF are you talking about?
I hate these negative ad campaigns. Rather than focusing on building a decent product (and I'm not saying win7 is bad! I use that too!), MS/Apple prefer to bash the opposition.

Its an aggressive ad. Macs are not more secure becuase they are better. they are more secure ebcause they represent 4.5% of computer users. Who are virus writers going to attack 95% of People and businesses who use PC's? The less than 1% who use one of the dozens of versions of linux? Or the less than 5% of mac users? Seriously! And there have been many security problems and a few mac specific viruses as of recent. Most Mac users do not even use a free anti-virus or any at all. Because they are taught that macs don;t get viruses. now that more people own macs that is changing. Beware of iphone viruses! Its the most used smart phone.

If MS wants me to switch back to Windows 7 all I have to do is look at my right screen monitor.
If Apple wants me to switch back again to OSX I just need to look at my left screen monitor.

I live in Utopia Desktop where my Mac shares peacefully with my PC.

I am so clever, right?

lol, all I saw was a single line headline "Windows 7 is Better Than Mac OS X"

and I was like "thats the classic toms hardware I remember

also. it must be said... good as windows 7 is, file sharing is still an absolute cluster ****! they have actually managed to make it worse!! who would have though that were possible!!

simple fact of the matter is, the MACS at work can see my windows 7 share fine... the XP machines CAN'T!

just saying... thats the way it is... hard to say that 'sharing is harder with a mac' after seeing that...

Buying a Mac still can install windows, component inside a mac still use partner component.competition are good as it will give us more options.if you're boring with windows you can use mac and vise versa.if ur windows infected with virus u can use mac to backup or repair ur windows.so having both is better, not just saying windows is good bla bla, mac is good bla bla. hey!, two is better than one, so use all! :) cheers

Well.. Mac sucks All the way.. It's a Pain using it..
Who'll waste time to create Malwares Or Viruses for Macs.. lol
like less than 1% people use it..

So far I do like my Windows 7 machine more than my Mac machine (I use both on a regular basis), but their ad is somewhat... wrong?
"Macs can take time to learn"
Thats just a poor ad, it all depends on your background.

"Macs don't work as well at work or at school"
About the encrypting your drive... I can buy a $120 operating system and encrypt my home folder, or spend $320 to encrypt my whole drive... another $200 just so I can encrypt files that don't really need encrypting anyway? No thanks.

"Macs don't like to share"
I've never had a problem sharing Mac -> Mac, I just plug it in to the same network and it appears no problem. Mac Windows sharing works thanks to Macs ability to share with Samba. Windows -> Windows sharing has always given me problems in the past, although I will say Homegroup finally makes Windows sharing at least somewhat easy for the average user.

"Macs might not like your PC stuff."
At least Macs attempt to read my PC stuff. PCs don't even bother trying to read Mac stuff.

But at least their last point is spot on correct. But the rest of the ad is basically crap. The only thing that is holding me back from owning more machines with Mac OS X on it is Apple's overpriced hardware. But I doubt Apple's hardware will be going down in price any time soon, so until then I'll stick with my self-built Windows 7 machines.

[citation][nom]rsud[/nom]Great post on your experiences!!You'll get lots of negative clicks from the windoze 10 year olds.[/citation]
... well i don't give a damn... i try to figure out them all... all of the OS's haz it weak and strong sides... maybe there will be a OS secure like Linux with easy to understand features like OSX and with hardware compatibility like Windows... the best from all... but... it may just happen, when proprietary software goes opensource... but i may dream?

The comments against Steve Jobs and Apple's "unjustifiable" profits are very irritating to me. Now, I am personally not a Mac fan. However, why should Apple, MS, or any other company or CEO be maligned for making a profit, regardless of amount? They are partaking in voluntary trade with willing customers who want, need, or desire their product. Bashing profit is a grave philosophical tragedy that ultimately scorns man for striving towards his own self interest, a necessity to all human life. Man cannot survive without selfishly pursuing the values which further his life, and thus is morally NOT at fault for doing so. In fact, I would argue he is morally HEROIC for pursuing his self interest and LIVING HIS LIFE. The alternative would be living a life of self-sacrifice in which you do not seek to gain from your work and production, instead living as a virtual slave for the needs or desires of others. Profits are a material representation of a man's production, and the value of his work or products as seen by voluntary traders. This should be not only appreciated, but cheered as a man living a moral life.

[citation][nom]Xlick[/nom]Agree with most of it, except the parts where they claim that having VGA not DVI is a 'feature'[/citation]

That's because most Windows 7 laptops come with HDMI and will directly connect to newer digital HD monitor/tvs without any extra cost attachments. VGA is still there to connect to older displays.

[citation][nom]belardo[/nom]I have Windows7 on my computers. With that said:This is a pretty lame "campaign"... its more of "Please don't go with Mac because..."Learning curve? WTF?! What about WinXp > Vista (gag) or Win7...? Win7 fixed a lot of GUI functionality snafu of vista. Its not perfect. Compare an iPhone OS to a typical Windows Mobile, and you see why MS sucks in GUI, in general. I'm doing some cleaning and throwing out (recycling) crap and found my OLD HP PDA (Color, Windows Mobile) that hasn't been turned on in 5 years and I played with it for 5 minutes and gave it to my 5 year old. It SUCKED, my Sony Cell phone is far more usable and iPhone smokes it. So bad, MS has murdered its OWN Mobile OS line and started from scratch. Hmmm... wonder if it'll look like Chrome or apple?- Games? Whatever... MS is whoring people to buy the 360s.- TV connections? Macs include TV HDMI output.... most PCs don't, its an add-on. Not a biggie. But here is something most people don't know.Mac can connect to Cable DVR boxes and can extract, rename and manage your recordings. Windows 7... it connects and craps all over itself.- Touch screen PC? Yeah, most of us WANT finger prints on our screens! Who cares?! Having some idiot touch my 24" LCD is a great way to piss me off. And besides, Win7 desktop for normal PC functions suck for TOUCH. Now, Apple did something that MS couldn't do for 9 years...Design, make and market a successful TABLET computer. Its not BULKY and while its not powerful, the OS doesn't bring it down. Win7 with Touch for tablet could work - but it's so full of bloat... that Acer, Samsung and HP are... using Google's ChromeOS to make their own tablets. - The Network sharing thing is stupid.... blah.- The FILE compatibility between Mac and PCs is also stupid... usually caused by MS's own choices to make their software or data files incompatible. What moron at MS came up with this crap? He and the folks at Apple who screwed up the iPhone 4's antenna & PR move to blame it on the customers (guess that would be Jobs) should form their own stupid company and call it SCO or Commodore.[/citation]
I can't help but laugh at the fact that you spent all that time writing your post, only to get thumbed down and hidden away. lol fail.

I have been enjoying my Hackintosh HP with Mac OS X (and Windows 7 running by parallels desktop) so that's a true winner here, best of both worlds. It's amazing how polished the parallels desktop have been since version 5. The virtual windows 7 has all the aero glass effects (much nicer looking than the old Leopard look) and give me a system score of 4.5 (4.5 being the 3D graphic but I don't really do games). By comparison my duo core laptop only has a score of 3.4. So, no worry about which is better, I use whatever is best for any particular tasks.

So my advice, get a Hackintosh and enjoy both!
