[citation][nom]shuffman37[/nom]I hate ribbon IU, the right click context menu has EVERYTHING without moving the mouse to the top of the screen for every step. How about a tabbed browser? Can't they copy Nautilus or Xbrowser and be happy? I like Windows 7 because its pretty minimal, don't start wasting screen area with garbage that can't be removed. If I'm browsing through 1000's of pics I want them to cover the as much screen area as possible, not the toolbars at the top![/citation]

Personally, I think MS OS's have been filled with bloatware for years now. Best OS was Win2000 Server. It was what it was suppose to be. An OS. Very basic, simple, did what it was meant to instead of looking all pretty and taking up huge ammounts of resources, and hard drive space. Less than 1GB installed vs. 17+ GB installed now days. And filled with all kinds of BS that most people don't want, use, or need. Make the OS simple. If people want it to look pretty then let them add on the shit that they want.

I STILL hate the ribbon. Shortcuts FTW! It has taken me 4 years and I'm just barely caving in and forcing myself to get use to the stupid thing while I'm gritting my teeth together. I hope there's an option to have the menus, or at least someone releases a "hack" that shows them.

Maybe I was wrong about time will tell if it will be a success. So many posts put up so fast, that maybe microsoft has got an uphill battle raging on their hands. Maybe one of those civil war battles, when the union had to put fire at the bottom of the hill to get rid of the southern boys holding on strong at the peak of the hill. The idea was to clear them out by smoking & cooking them out.

such interface simply make the users more stupid, by making some particular tasks into just 1 click. i just have difficulty to work this way. if such interface is really that good, most opensource software should have gone into this direction.

opensource software reflects true users wants, lets go for opensource software

Tabbed browsing is pointless...you still have to switch back and forth. You end up using ctrl+tab instead alt+tab.....what is the point? You are better off getting a 2nd, 3rd or 4th monitor so that you are both more productive and do not have to keep switching back and forth.

I like how they moved the photo details over to the right panel instead of at the bottom; this helps a lot with vertically-cramped wide screen displays. :)

I am still waiting on the most important improvement. Have they made it so I can easily move my default installation directory for applications? I hate installing all my programs onto the same drive as my OS. When you do this in Windows 7 through an HKEY edit, you end up with a few problems.

Ribbon is an obvious improvement. I'd wager that most people are either happy or at least indifferent towards it, and that only a small but vocal minority dislike it.

Win7 file/folder listing is totally counter productive. I've got a Full HD monitor and it wastes 80% space by keeping it empty white. XP doesn't waste any space by arranging files in tiles mode. (so need for scrolling again and again).

Also get that classic XP start menu back please. Current win7 consumes more time to browse through.

Do you think a simple ribbon makes a new OS from Windows 7? I do not see any new ideas but only one: how to make simple things complicated...

Hide Ribbon that's just what I did, try working in a window 150% Fronts with Ribbon enabled will I did and almost loose it. What a mess noting that a simple Registry tweak or VBScript can't take care of. Over All Ribbon UI Sucks! Ribbon UI is for blind people that can't see and need 150% Fronts WOW when I go that blind I'll just stop reading, well if I can anyway.

Not a good idea for them to be doing this. I think that they're ringing their own deaf bell for the future of windows 8 operating system. Time will tell though and I could be wrong or rightt.

There is an old 'explorer' feature that has been missing ever since Windows 95... Where is the 'Print File List' button? It is such an inconvenience... Should have been a basic feature that never left Windows, and instead, can only be accessed from Windows 3.11 and before!

Wow, I love this but I wish MSFT did more to clean up the desktop themes in Windows 7- they are really buggy and it's extremely annoying to set up a theme. I also wish the theme held all of the pictures in the actual theme file instead of you having to point to a certain place to grab the picture from.

I hate having to say things to users like "Click the copy button on top of the screen, but if it isn't there, then...". Everything should be the same.

Then use a Mac and leave the rest of us (pros) alone if you want "everything the same"

This is why I'm only using 7 when I need games in DX11. XP for everything else because it's the last OS they made that wasn't catered for noobs.
