hi all-

here is an email my friend sent me, i'm not sure how to fix it-can it be
done easily? he's not very computer savvy.

Todd, my neighbor used his restore disc on his computer. Now we are
missing a file named
msvcr71.dll He cannot run any applications without this file. I
reinstalled windows 98 SE but it did not restore the file. None of his
applications will start.

Do you have any ideas?????? Thank you Dick

thanx!

Apparently it's part of the .net package. You may be able to fix things by
re-installing that (available from Windows Update).

You might also try the much smaller file:

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr71

The .dll seems to belong in windows\system32.

Good luck.

MSVCR71.DLL can be downloaded and placed in windows/system32.
www.dll-files.com
However, I do not believe that it is a Windows file.
More likely it came form one of his applications programs.
