My "Safely remove device" icon is missing from my notification area. I cannot
safely remove my thumbdrive from my laptop.
But, whenever I do a system restore, that icon appears for the 1sr boot. And
after I restart once, the icon goes missing again.
Without that icon, I cannot let my thumbdrive's light goes off which
indicates safe to remove.

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the USB Hub devices, Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the
device drivers again automatically.
