Mixing 8gb stick with 4gb sticks

Hello all,

On my current mobo, I'm using 4 sticks of 4gb Corsair Vengeance 1600.

I just bought an MSI GD65: http://us.msi.com/product/mb/Z77A-GD65.html
and it came with a free stick of 8gb Corsair Vengeance 1600. Would I be allright replacing one of the 4gb sticks with the 8gb or am I likely to see a performance drop?

yes you can swap one of the sticks keep in mind what your current ram speeds are vs the 8gb bundled ram. if the 8 gig ram stick is slower all of your ram will downclock to the 8gb speeds for compability...no you wont see performance improvements as you have a lot of ram already....i would put the 8gb ram stick on craigslist for 30 bucks its not worth putting it in your system
