I am using Windows Me and takes me about four attempts to connect to
internet.

Home page won't load and get that white page instead saying cannot
find server or detect network settings. I have reloaded windows me and
still problem persists.

I checked tools/internet options on MSE and everything is properly
checked.

Can someone outline in laymans language other steps to check.

Thanks.

When it doesn't connect, are you gettinig a dial tone? Are you getting a
busy signal?

Check all connections and wires. Might be time to replace the modem.

Might be network settings. Have you checked with the setup instructions
from your ISP?

I get connected normally, but "Yahoo" home page does NOT load at every attempt.

Have you tried connecting to a different web page, such as MSN? If
you do connect O.K. with another web page then Yahoo Home page is
experiencing a problem. f you have a problem with all attempted
connections, the easiest thing to do is call the tech support of
whoever you're paying for the internet connect.

Or: Have you got the latest version of MSE? Have you got all the
critical updates for your OS? Then look to see if you've got the BEST
driver for your particular modem. Since you obviously have a connect
to the 'net, go to whoever makes your modem and get the latest ME
driver. If you are using DSL or a cable modem, make sure your service
isn't experiencing technical difficulties, by calling their tech
support.

Also; Make sure you have used Disk Cleaner to clean up your HD and
that you have defragged your hard drive.

There could be a problem with the DNS server. Connect and try pinging
several sites. If you can ping them, then it is not a DNS problem. If
you can't -- or only can after multiple attempts -- see if you are
pointing to the correct DNS server (Start|Run|CMD|ipconfig /all).
