I'm working wtih a Windows XP Home Gateway computer that's
only a few months old. It went down because of a power outage.
Now when I try to dial the ISP or even Query the modem on the
modem's Diagnostic tab the computer does a hard reset. Nothing
else seems to have any problems.
I'd like to try reinstalling the drivers for the modem, but
I couldn't find the any modem drivers for this computer on
Gateway's support section on their site. The modem is a
"SoftV92 Data Fax Modem with SmartCP." Where can I find the
drivers for that modem?
If reinstalling the drivers doesn't fix the problem, will I
be able to get it replaced by Gateway? Because I need it
back ASAP, could I just buy my own new modem and put it in
without voiding Gateway's warranty on the computer? Thanks
for any info you can give me.
