Hi,
I have a new 2024 ASUS Tuf Gaming A16 Advantage Edition, and I recently swapped out the RAM for a new set. Now, after opening any particularly intensive games that in theory my laptop should be more than capable of playing the RAM begins buzzing, and after a short period it forces the laptop to sleep shutting down my monitor, keyboard, and touchpad. My only solution has been to close the laptop, then reopen it and very quickly alt-F4 every program I had open, otherwise it will repeat the forced sleep mode in anywhere between 5 to 1 seconds.
Some details:
Laptop originally came equipped with 16GBs of ram with 2 allocated to the on-board graphics, plus the reserved memory for hardware meant I only had 13.7 usable. As such sometimes it would run out of memory in games when paired along with other applications like Discord or SteelSeries.
I bought a 16GBx2 set of RAM from Micron, the website said the 5600mhz version was compatible with my laptop, upon installing it I learned my laptop ONLY supports 4800mhz so the RAM runs at that speed.
When I ALT-F4 to rescue my laptop I need everything displaying on the desktop to close otherwise the issue persists, any application open in Taskbar Corner Overflow menu, or the little up-arrow as I call it does not need to be closed.
External monitors, keyboards, and mice also shutdown making me believe the system is sleeping
Fan speed doesn't change, and audio continues to play over external speakers or headphones making me believe the game is still running like normal
I have done a fresh windows install, memtest86, windows reliability history, sfc /scannow, ASUS memory test, playing games in borderless windowed mode, lowering visual settings but no dice and no test fails.
Light games and tasks such as browsing do not cause the issue
I'm at a loss here and I don't know what else to do, any help or ideas would be extremely appreciated.
