Question Monitor doesn't show anything after opening.

I left my PC on for ~2 hours to download a game while I was away for some work. When I came back, the computer was still working but the monitor was not showing anything (black).

1. I tried to restart it because I had the same thing happening a few more times before and restarting usually fixed it. This time though, nothing changed. Monitor turns on (displays its logo) and then shows nothing. Along with that the motherboard sent out 6 short beeps (which I was told was related to a problem with a PCI-E slot), but because that was a thing for the past two years (and I couldn't detect any problem with my GPU first few times I heard it) I didn't think much of it.

2. Then, I unplugged the DVI cable both from my monitor and GPU and then plugged them back. When I had turned my PC on that time I heard the usual 6 beeps from my MB but for the first time it was sending the 6 beep signal over and over again until I turned off my PC. After the first set of 6 beeps my GPU also turned off (fans stopped working).

3. I opened the case, reinstalled all 4 RAM sticks (just in case) and put my GPU in another PCI-E slot I had available. Plugged everything back and when I turned my PC on this time there were no error beeps from my MB anymore and the GPU was working but the problem still persisted (no image). (Before this I took out my GPU and connected DVI directly to my MB and didn't see any change but then remembered that my CPU doesn't have integrated grpahics... dummy)

Specs:
  • MSI B350M Mortar Motherboard
  • AMD Ryzen 5 1500X CPU w/ stock cooler
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB GPU
  • 4x4GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM
  • 1x 240GB SSD/ 1x 1TB HDD
  • 430W EVGA 80Plus PSU
  • FHD 21.5" LCD Monitor

I think it is a problem with the PCI e, I had a similar problem earlier and after a few days my motherboard died. Did you check the cable?

My DVI cable is working just fine (tried another one and it didn't fix the problem) and I switched my GPU from one PCI-E slot to another. Could they both be faulty?

Maybe, BTW do you have a spare GPU or motherboard to test them. I have run out of solutions. If you have a spare GPH you can test it and if it fails then PCI e is dead

Found the culprit after all. After tons of unplugging and swapping and testing. Somehow one of the 4 RAM sticks managed to break out of nowhere and my PC couldn't start because of it.

No idea how are the 6 beeps & the GPU stopping to work related to that problem (since ram errors usually give out 3 beeps, not 6) though.

Good thing I didn't give up and tested each component one by one.

Thank you for your input nonetheless.
