I'm looking at a new monitor to run my games on, I'm doing a single monitor setup just not sure what to go for. I have crossfire 5870's so i can handle a lot. Should i be looking at a 120 hertz 3d monitor or a high resolution 2560x1440 monitor? I am looking to get the best gaming experience and definitely the most eye candy. Thanks all and please comment with your opinion.

3D is a sales marketing Gimmick and really a nice fast 60hz monitor is what you want because allot even most games will not run at native 120hz refresh rate even on a high performance setup like yours 5870CF. The min I would recommend to run today's games at 120hrz is CF 7970.

Most of the reviews your hearing about the 3d monitors having a better picture is coming from the fact that when it refreshes at twice the speed of a normal monitor dragging windows around and so fourth is smoother. In a gaming situation your not worried about that, and your not going to see it, your to busy looking to kill the next guy or not get killed, to kick back and enjoy how that bush moves a little more smoother then it did.

A 2560x1440 resolution is going to give your a better picture then then 1900x1080 at its native resolution because you have a higher pixel count, and alot of people who own these higher res monitors dont usually have to run AA just because the resolution difference. I noticed this back in the day when most were running 1024x768. As a example of the difference you may see, I had just built a new comp and my monitor would support 1600x1200. When playing battlefield vietnam i would get kicked out of server for sniping with the m-16 while the other guy couldnt even see me because back then the view distance was tied to your resolution.

lol I have a benq xl2410t 120hz monitor and I'm sorry but you do notice it in game. I don't use it for 3D just for BF3 its very noticable on the desktop but its certainly noticable on BF3, which supports 120hz as a screen optioon (actually it just selected it for me) its smoother its not like motion blur where things look smooth due to blurring its just smoother I can see when spinning around a corner people on the side of my screen a lot easier.

its a 24inch screen at 1920by 1080 and I love it, out of box colour is washed out but after calibration its great
