Monitor goes off but computer still running

Hello, please help me. Only when I connect to the internet (Iburst Broadband wireless), not even 10 minutes later, monitor light goes orange, no signal, but my computer stays on. When I don't connect to the internet I have no problems. Is it possible my ISP, could have put some setting on my IP Address, in order for this to happen. But Very strange that my monitor goes off. Just recently had problems with my ISP, problems still pending, that is why I thought they could have done something purposely. That is surely illegal. Hoping somebody can help me. Thanks Shaz

If they could do that it would have to be through software. Run a good malware remover program:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free.
Then remove all permissions from your anti-virus program and disable all scripts.
Download and run this:
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
In the Tools section check your start up programs. Disable any that are not absolutely necessary.
Use Firefox for your browser. Try going on line and let us know.
