Currently I am using my monitor speakers for sound and the sound isn't really good, so I was thinking of buying speakers for better sound quality, something like logitech z200 and I would like to know if real speakers are better than monitor speakers? (I would use them for playing games)

bigger question is how loud can you get before upsetting everyone around you?

if you live in an apartment, some super nice bass thumping speakers may get you thrown out. at home, just down the hall from the rest of the family, it won't take much to start to annoy them as well. so the question is what can you get away with? then get something that can do that much.

if just about anything is gonna get you in trouble, invest in a nice pair of headphones to crank up so you can enjoy the explosions and screams of death all around you :)

What would be a good pair of headphones?

that i can't help you with. i have a $20 pair i use that work fine for me.

others seem to feel you need a $200 pair of "gaming" headphones with lots of flashing lights. it's up to you what you expect from them and what you want to spend. i honestly don't pay attention to the expensive "gaming" category of stuff as it does not really pertain to how i use my pc. i know i suck at a game because i suck at a game, not because my keyboard sucks or my mouse needs more buttons or i need 50 more fps or whatever excuse people come up with to make excuses and spend money. i just suck at the game and move on :)

Almost any speaker, even cheaper ones, will sound better than speakers built into a monitor. I would not get a set as cheap/low end as the Z200 though, speakers/monitor/keyboard/mouse are all as important as anything else to a good computer setup. Logitech Z323 would be pretty good for the price. The really nicer sounding stuff is in the $75 - 100 range for decent sound, really as good as you would need.
