Monitor transfer to tv

Hello, my monitor is on the tv, but there are no icons and only sometimes does the mouse work

Select to mirror the desktop, so u can see on TV what u see on the PC.

U may have the TV as an additional screen, so the mouse travels from the desktop to that other screen and that is why u don't see the ikons, because the PC thinks this is 1 desktop area/screen.

I have selected the TV as an additional screen because the PC says "1" and the TV says "2". I see some portions of my connection on the TV under these conditions, but I can't get the DVD to play. I've used Toshiba's DVD program and it was suggested that I use Windows media player. It worked in their shop but didn't work at home. ???
