Motherboard Acer Laptop

I had an Acer 5500 laptop of 4 years now. It was working good but then suddenly the display is gone totally. I went to see 2 service centers and I was told of the same fault as the motherboard. Can it be repaired? where and how? It would be at least cheaper than buying a new one or it may be this model is obsolete by now. Thanks. William
