Motherboard and cables (please help)

If i connect only the cpu, hdd, gpu and psu would the mobo work? And should i connect all the stuff? Btw can you please give me a good tutorial?

There needs to be RAM in there.

The system will boot with motherboard , CPU, RAM, PSU. If the CPU needs a discrete GPU, then add it to the list.

The monitor, keyboard and mouse are next.

The System drive only comes in with loading the operating system.
