Hi guys,
My computer was overheating so I had to change the cooler. I took it out and I went to the local computer store and they gave me EXACTLY the same.
When I tried to plug it I noticed that the holes are not fitting, so I pressed little harder and the plastic push ups broke !!!
Well, after that I went to a nearest hardware store in order to buy bolts , the only had METALIC ones so I took 4 and I took out the motherboard and I fit the cooling headsink.
Now my computer is not working, is powering off and then is shuts off. I am wondering what to do, there is no other cooling fan model for this old motherboard. Surely I'll buy a new one in the future , but how can I resolve the problem now? How to make sure that the screws are ok in order to fit the headsink?
Is there something else you advice me to do ? I cannot go to a hardware store right now because they closed so I have to wait until Monday.
By the way, of course I applied thermopaste before I fit the new headsink. The question is, shall the headsink fit on the thermopaste ? Shall I do something else ? I want my computer to run without problems and it seems the headsink is not doing good job because the CPU gets temps over 80C !!!!!
I am glad I have a second computer with Linux so I can do my work but I am wondering how in earth I should make the headsink working perfectly during this weekend.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanx
