Hello guys,

I am currently using an m.2 nvme ssd and recently bought a sata ssd.
I have a second Windows 11 license so I will use it to make my PC dual bootable. (Nvme for games and sata for school etc.)
I want to move everything from my NVME to the SATA driver so I can fully clean my nvme.
I've heard that I can clone the driver but I'm not sure because I will have two different Windows licenses.

Question:
What is the best way of Moving/cloning everything (files, programs, files, settings etc.) from one drive to another on dual bootable PC with different Windows Lincense ?

Dual boot.

Windows 11 on one drive.

What OS on the other?

10 and 11? 11 and 11? Linux and 11?

Normally, when you clone from drive 1 to drive 2, the licensing info on drive 1 is included in the transfer and is then on drive 2.

We need more clarity about your plans. It's not clear yet why you want to dual boot at all.

If you in fact successfully clone drive 1 to drive 2 and the PC is then bootable from drive 2 alone, you can then wipe drive 1 completely and do with it as you wish.

Hey thanks for your reply! I'm sorry if my expression in English is not that good.

currently i have drive 1 where my windows 11 is installed and where my files and programs are.

What I want to do is install windows 11 in drive 2 with a different license. I want all my files, programs, settings from drive 1 to drive 2 so i can format drive 1.

Goal: drive
- drive 1 (nvme) only for gaming
- drive 2 (sata ssd) only for school or others.
Dual booting will increase performance in gaming.

Now you said i can't clone drive 1 to drive 2 because they have different Windows 11 licenses. What is the best way to move everything from drive 1 to drive 2 without needing to take every single files and without loosing my settings?

No it will not.

That you cannot do.
You could do a full clone from 1 to 2, but you can't slice out "files, programs, settings" from one OS to the other.

Im sending you this video so you understand what i mean with dual boot and what my goal is.
Interspersed with a LOT of irrelevant gameplay, that just shows how to install a second OS.
It says nothing about why one should do that.

Be careful with random videos like this. They say a lot of stuff, with no real substance behind it.

- drive 1 with windows A + current files, settings, programs

How to move files, settings, accounts to:

- drive 2 with windows B
Again, you can't do that. Can't move "programs" or "settings" to a second OS.

But if I install Atlas OS (https://atlasos.net/) on drive 1, i will have performance increase while gaming. But i will not install this Atlas OS as long as my files are not moved to a safe drive (in this case drive2)

Do you have any suggestion how to move them or i can only move my files?

I have no idea or opinion on "Atlas OS". Personally, I wouldn't.

It has no settings or customization you can't do yourself.

Moving "programs or settings"? No.

I did not say that AT ALL.

You CAN repeat CAN clone drive 1 to drive 2.

I have no idea whether that is a good or bad idea in your case.
Ah sorry then i have misunderstood i this case!
Okay i think the only safe way is to just copy all my personal files to the other drive and then install the programs in the new drive from the beginning.

Friend of me installed lately this OS to his Windows 10 and he had performance increase.

Before Atlas:
CPU 25%
RAM 40%

After Atlas:
CPU 4%
RAM 28%

(Idle usage)

Thank you for your personal opinion! I will think about it if this is the way for me to increase performance. But definitely now i know that I can't move/clone programs and settings between two different OS!

All that means is that some things are turned off by default.
Not a "performance increase".
Nothing you can't do by yourself.

And that is only at idle.

In my system right now, with a LOT of things running, Task Manager shows my CPU at 11%.

My little Win 10 Pro HTPC, at idle, shows 1% CPU and 11% RAM.
Ryzen 5 3550H, 32GB RAM.

i wouldn't run that on main system... it turns Windows Defender and UAC off. That combo means if you go to any suspect site, it can download and install programs on your PC without even asking or you knowing its doing it. The first note on video is from people who make Atlas and they are going to revert the turning off of UAC in next build but that could be too late for anyone who has been running it without AV until now.

You second person today I have seen ask about that. I remember starting to watch LTT video a few weeks back myself but for some reason never got to him suggesting OS, and I wouldn't have acted on it anyway.

not even sure I would run in a VM without re enabling UAC and some of the security settings it turns off.

I wouldn't run that crap on any system.

Having two drives with windows 11 installed on it (same edition) doesn't require additional license.
Additional license would be required, if you wanted windows 11 on one drive and Windows 11 Pro on second drive.

Just clone one drive to second and be done with it.
Note - first boot from cloned drive has to be done with old drive physically disconnected.
This is important and if you fail to do this, you'll have to redo cloning.
