I'm currently using a Kyocera 6035, which works fine, but is beat up.
I plan to upgrade to the Samsung i600 or Kyocera 7135. I gather there
are potential issues with either choice, and welcome advice.

My only real requirement that isn't met by the 6035 is to be able to
listen to MP3 files that are sent via email. (My voicemail system
forwards them that way; it could also send WAV files.) I'm not sure
whether that will be possible.

I use Eudora on the 6035; it appears that same program is provided
with the 7135, but I don't know if it will handle the MP3 attachments
- and I don't know if there's an alternative.

I suspect the i600 will do this, but don't know enough about it.

TIA,

Steve

This is theory, as I don't use my 7135 for email or mp3...

Assuming your mail client of choice downloads the mp3 file to your
phone, put the file into the \audio directory of the card. Once there,
the mp3 player should be able to play it.

Two caveats: I do not know if the mp3 player needs to do the transfer
(ie, from a desktop) or not, and if the player on the Kyo is anything
like the player on my (old) Clie N760, it may only have a narrow range
of mp3 formats it can play (ie 44kHtz between 92 and 192 kbps only).

There are alternatives. Check PalmGear, Handango, Tucows, etc, for
them.

www.snappermail.com may do it, you can search at http://pdaphonehome.com on
the 7135 forum.

This isn't something I care to do. I use a USB 2.0 SD card reader/writer to
drag mp3's to the memory card then put it back in my phone to use them. If
you have 256Mb or 512MB of data to move, this is much more efficient.
