I made some changes to the Startup items in System Config Utility, and now
every time I login/reboot and get to my desktop Windows informing me that
changes have been made (along with the box that says Do not notify me of this
again", which I check off each time)- but it still comes back EVERY day.
Something amiss? How do I fix??

many thanks!

Mike

MSCONFIG is a diagnostic tool.. if you have disabled a programs ability to
start up via this utility, and you are happy with the situation, go to the
programs preferences/options and cancel start up there..

Then return to MSCONFIG and delete the program for which you made the
change.. you can then reset MSCONFIG to normal operation..

Have you chacked in an administrative account, or limited? Note that the check will cause effect in an administrative one.

If you want to completely remove the disabled items in msconfig and run
msconfig normally, then do some Registry Editing.

To remove disabled items from the startup list in msconfig delete
unwanted subkeys of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SharedTools\MSConfig\startupfolder
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg
