ASUS and Hanns-G are my two favorite monitor brands, but there are alot of 1080p monitors from LG, Samsung, Dell, and Hannspree that get good reviews. The main things to look for are lower G-T-G (grey to grey) times and good dynamic contrast. Although don't be fooled by some manufacturers claiming insanely huge contrast numbers as those are inflated. Around 1000:1 to 3000:1 are great for contrast. Anything like 10,000,00:1 is inflated and a part of marketing.
