I have an i3 6098p with an ms 7996 motherboard and Im upgrading to an r5 3600 with an MSI A520m-a pro , I already bought them n they are on their way.
I looked up how to switch them myself and found out I may have to update the BIOS as well , I was wondering if I should put the 2024 version of the BIOS on the stick to plug when I want to do the update.
This is the link: Also do you guys have tips/warnings for updating the bios/ changing the cpu and motherboard myself?

It may not even boot with old drive on new motherboard.
If it boots at all you may get crashes/bsods or impaired system performance.

With motherboard change, windows install is recommended. Often required.
