[citation][nom]HazardCat[/nom]I unfortunately was one of the many who've run across this black screen problem and now may find myself fighting with MSI to resolve it. I got an Antec HCP 750w PSU and ended up doing an RMA with Antec before realizing it was the card. Even tested it on my roommate's rig who has the same PSU and it produced the same results. Amazingly, it works on my EarthWatt 650w PSU. So yeah, can 100% confirm this is a major problem. And MSI needs to take responsibility.[/citation]

That is something entirely different.

I have one of these affected cards I just bought and just found out about this issue. I communicated with MSI tech support and apparently there are no new revisions of these cards nor do they plan to have any, no matter what they said before.

Yes i guess your correct i spoke with MSI tech support on Nov. 23rd. and to make a long story short i was told the card has passed all tests and their backing up the card with a warranty so no need to worry about it.If i have any issues it will be replaced free of charge

Thats a really shady thing for a company to do. 9.4V is absolutely absurd.

And then to say enjoy your free over clock?

How about enjoy your free over clocked and unstable $300 video card.

"Taken straight from an Amazon sales add....why would you advertise "Enhanced PWM design", yet basically circumvent the controller???

[citation][nom]jerm1027[/nom]What does the scouter say about the PWM's power level?it's OVER 9000!!!! ... milivolts. Had to do it[/citation]

haha thanks for that I was kinda bummed out and that made my day 😀

Yeah It should be connected to the kathode instead and then to ground. The zener doesn't even have a ground lol Pretty noob mistake.

Interesting, my msi lighting II 6970 card is unstable at its stock speeds. The first one i got appeared to be a DOA, Second one can't run on its specified clock speed. Is msi doing some nasty tricks there too?

It's not just MSI!
My EVGA GTX660Ti had the same symptoms, and I had to RMA 3 times because of that. And all three times, they haven't spoken a word on what the real issue was.
On my final RMA (3rd), they offered me a free upgrade to the EVGA GTX660Ti 3GB Backplate Edition, with free both-way shipping (I had to pay shipping earlier).
I am creating a big whoo-haa about this because they finally gave me a free upgrade and paid for shipping (which they should). But I very strongly believe they were involved as well.

Sad, for me MSI has been hit and miss for a long time (had 2 GPUS, 2 Laptops, 1 Laptop was very buggy, the other is great. 1 GPU was Awsome, the other is quite good).
I hope they get out of this hole they digged up themselves.

First of all those German snitches , Second of all no wonder those twin force ran as fast as the 670s of other brands , 3rd of all they should have made the part they bypassed be ble to handle the 9v , , 4th of all I think modders will be able to tweak this enough to make the card work properly .
