i have an curiosity.can i overclock my i5 6400 on msi h110m pro-vd?i saw other examples of i5 6400 overclocked at 4 ghz and i'm wondering if i can overclock on my mobo

In general, only the CPUs whose model number ends with K (like i7 6700K, for example) can be overclocked. Recently a work-around was found to overclock non-K CPUs, that some motherboard vendors implemented in certain models, but you need a specific mobo for that, and yours isn't able. So the answer is no, you won't be able to overclock your CPU on your mobo.
