The compatibility pages shows that this (KVR400X64C3A/512) is OK, but can I
use KVR400X64C25/512 instead (if I set the CL to 3)?
Or do I have to get the KVR333X64C25/512, which the board supports..

I'm contemplating buying this board together with CPU (AMD 64 3000+
ADA3000BIBOX, S939 Winchester, 150eur), 1GB (2*512) memory (118eur)and a
Asus GF6600 (EN6600/TD/128M, 113eur), total price about 484euro....

((System now is: (HW) ASUS A7V133-C m/b (BIOS 1009), Athlon (T-bird) 1.2
GHz(FSB 100MHz),(Cooler Thermaltake M3), 512MB (SDRAM @100MHz, 256+2*128)),
200+120GB HDs(primary IDE, Seagate,Samsung), DVD and CD-RW(sec. IDE), GF2MX
(32MB), Creative SB Live!Value, Hercules SmartTV, D-Link
NetNic(DRN-32TX),Godegen Noble ATX8012 case with 350 power supply and 80mm
rear-mounted exhaust fan, external Zyxel Prestige645R ADSL modem, external
80GB HD (Seagate)))

The only difference I see is that the recommended part runs at CAS3
and the one you're looking at runs at CAS2.5.

So sure, I would say you could use the C25 part. You could probably
even run it at 2.5. I'm running a CAS2 part in my NForce 3 based
board with no problems. The NForce 4 supposedly handles different
memory modules better than the NForce 3.

Memory manufacturers often do a poor job of matching up all of their
products with a particular mobo... especially the newer ones, so just
because it isn't listed doesn't mean it won't work. I've heard
nothing bad about Kingston's Value Ram series, so you should be fine
with any of their DDR400 modules.
