So I put together my own pc but when trying to start it, the motherboard EZ debug LED's were on. The lights were on for DRAM and CPU. It would start at DRAM, then blink to CPU and back.

So in the manual I read that means the motherboard cant detect the DRAM and the CPU, is this correct?

What should I do to fix this?

(Currently my computer doesn't display a signal when connected to a monitor).

EVGA Geforce GTX 960 4gb
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8gb
Noctua NH-D14
WD Blue 1TB
Cooler Master Vanguard S 550w

First unplug the power connectors and remove the memory and reinstall them.
Then reset CMOS (this is in the manual) then try one stick of memory at a time moving it to each slot then the other stick the same way. From their I would look for bent pins in the CPU socket on the motherboard.

Posting this in case someone has the same problem.

I solved this problem by

Taking out everything inside the case and breadboarded. (Taking out the motherboard and putting it on a non conductive surface, I used the top of my motherboard box. Then building the pc out of the case.)

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems
linked thread 23, where I found out how to do it.

So first I tested my Motherboard + PSU + CPU + CPU cooler and used the motherboard speaker. I got 3 long beeps so I moved on to adding 1 stick of ram.
Motherboard manual said if using 1 ram to place it in the 2nd slot so I did. With 1 ram stick in, I booted the computer and managed to reach BIOS.

I then proceeded to add my 2nd ram stick, in slot 4 as instructed by my manual. However this time when booting, the computer did not display a signal.

I tried things like resetting CMOS, checking / cleaning the memory slots, swapping the ram sticks around and checking for bent pins on the cpu but none of them worked. I also tried doing each ram stick on its own in memory slot 2 and both managed to reach BIOS so I knew that the ram sticks weren't the problem.

I then went and tried the ram sticks on the not recommended slots. (My motherboard manual had specific spots for where you placed the ram depending on the number of sticks you had).

The combination of 2 ram sticks in memory slots 1 and 2 allowed my computer to reach BIOS. Problem solved. I then tested all my other parts, reinstalled the components into the case and installed windows. Computer showed that I had 8gb of ram available.

Hopefully this helps someone with a similar problem!

PS. When I installed my GPU incorrectly, the computer failed to POST. Maybe this info will come in handy 😀
