Hi all,

I still have the older MSI Z97 Gaming 5 MB & was looking into the new 2000 series RTX GPUs, but MSI have advised my MB chipset would in incompatible, contrary to Parkpicker advice.

I have checked other compatibility sites, and they seems to agree with Partpicker.

So, for example, would my MB have issues with the likes of the following GPUs?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-RTX-2060-SUPER-ARMOR/dp/B07TWX7N69
https://www.ebuyer.com/897796-gigab...force-2x-8gb-graphics-card-gv-n2070wf2-8gd-v3

Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

Sure:

Thanks for contacting MSI technical support.

Regarding your concern, sorry to say that we don't suggest you select such VGA card as the MB chipset is too old, and please select the card referring to the test list on msi website to avoid compatibility issue. Thanks a lot !

Thanks for your cooperation in advance!

Clearly their statement is only a suggestion, which was odd that I was initially looking at a MSI RTX GPU. It really had me second guessing my options.

Since I purchased a decent CPU with the MB, I thought I wouldnt have any future compatibility issues with new GPUs as long as the PCI slot wasnt radically altered.

I have replied back pointing out that every GPU they suggest from their 'compatibility list' isn't even available to purchase brand new these days, and to question why Partpicker would be so incorrect.
