I am planning on building a box to run multiple VMs. I change things regularly often screw them up. I plan on breaking up the functions I use into small VMs. Then I can make changes and easily recover. This will be a workstation. The running VMs will not be heavely loaded.
I have seen MBs with dual graphic card slots. I am wondering what value this can bring. I expect to have about 4 displays. I expect two of those will be graphics (one HDTV), the other two mostly text - spreadsheets and DBs.
I would like the entire system to run quiet. I expect to pay from $100 to $200 per card. If there is a benefit for coordinating MB with graphic cards, it seems that my current preference is for Asus MBs.
I am expecting to run the Xen hypervisor. Can the underlying debian utilize separate graphic cards? And if so, what are the pros and cons?
