Multiple external IPs to internal VLans

Hi all

I have a D-Link 655 Wireless N Router which I am have with atm.
But I have this problem that I would like to be able to assign more than one external IP to the router and map each IP adress to an internal VLAN. This way different computers in my home can have different external IP adresses.

Anyone knows of a router which can do this ?

Atm two, I am just guessing that that number doesnt mean much. Or does it ?

That means you can put only 2 devices outside (with public IP addresses).

1 - this can be your router itself as you said
2 - can be your computer - you would have to configure your router to put your pc in DMZ zone with that public IP address.

Now, I'm not familiar with Dlink 655 and honestly, I'm too lazy to check it, but just take a look at the options. If you can put device in DMZ zone or if it has something called IP pass through then yes - it can definitely be done on that router.

I'm not quite sure what do you want to do with VLan. VLan is just separated private network segment and you can eventually pass some ports onto internal pc (this is how you configure ftp server's behind the NAT for example).

I'm guessing you want to assign a public IP to the computer inside you network - then like I said, DMZ (IP pass through).

Thanks, actually a good idea.
I was able to set it up so that my Computer was in a DMZ, but I couldn't find any setting for passing the IP address through.

And maybe I wasn't completly clear, the router I had was just for information. I would like a name of a router that could handle my problem instead - I can then consider an upgrade.

Well yeah, when you do your router research - just check for any of those features.

Once you put your pc in DMZ zone, manually assign it a public IP address you have available. It should work.
One more thing - make sure that firewall is not blocking the ports you want to use, like TCP 3389 for Remote Desktop, etc.
