Out of the blue my WinXP Pro stopped loading. The XP boot status bar just kept going and going. Rebooted in safe mode but always stalled when trying to load MUP.sys. I checked this site for any info but found none. I did find stuff on another forum. I am running fine now but wanted to post this for others that run into this problem. From what I understand it is somewhat common.
Mup.sys is the service to connect to Novell servers. ™.99909 of people won't need this. http://www.winnetmag.com/Windows/Article/ArticleID/3127/3127.html
I was able to boot with the XP cd. Run the recovery console and "disable mup". Everything seems to be working fine now. There were some other ideas that this problem may be caused by USB2 cards and stuff. The recovery console tip was the easiest and it worked. Hope this helps if anyone else has this problem. More info can be found at - and I hate directing anyone to another forum, but - http://forums.devhardware.com/archive/t-7537.

For it is not what is seen, but what is not seen.
