My Chiefvalue Experience

So I don't know if any of you have dealt with Chief Value, but thus far, I haven't had the BEST experience.

First of all - they wouldn't allow me to ship to the address I wanted to. They require that anything besides the billing address be "authorized" on the credit card. However, Bank of America doesn't allow any additional addresses on their bank/debit/credit card, so I had to ship to my BILLING address, ( I work all day ), and actually send someone to my house to pick it up!

In order to save money, they actually ship from several different warehouses. I assume this to ACTUALLY mean that they work with several companies and they ship out of these different companies with using their paperwork... I think someone mentioned to me that this is a sister company of Newegg...

I was VERY lucky to have all packages ship the same day, and I CHOSE 3 day shipping, instead of regular ground, so they will all be arriving the same day, in three different boxes.

If I would've chose ground, they would arrive different days, since 2 are coming from California (2 different cities) and another from Tennessee. Then I would've had to have someone go to my house on two or three days to receive the packages...

Furthermore, after I contacted the company they were unable to ensure they would all arrive the same day - ( but i seem to have gotten lucky ), and told me to call UPS and ask them!

So far I give them a 6 out of 10, because the prices were right, and they had a HUGE selection... If you compare them with their sister Newegg, you can see that one or the other will put certain items on special, or offer free shipping... so its probably a good idea to compare these two!

I will let y'all know what happens when I GET the items...

I have never installed a new power supply - but I am sure I can get it done! *crosses fingers*

"so I had to ship to my BILLING address, ( I work all day ), and actually send someone to my house to pick it up! "

This is quite common, and probably prevents someone from using your credit card numbers/data from shiping parts to their address! 🙂

I understand that... but a lot of MAJOR companies, CompUSA, etc, use OTHER methods to verufy the card, and allow you to send things to as GIFTS!

Chief sent me 2 broken LCDs and then refused to pay for return shipping. Hyundai ended up paying for it (and said Chief should have) and I got new monitors... 3 weeks later. Of course the new one had a stuck pixel.

Anyhow, their customer care did a poor job of answering questions, did not answer all my questions, and overall was very dissappointing.

See that's my point. A business like ChiefValue needs to ENSURE they offer the highest in customer service, because word DOES get around, especially fast on the internet.

If they are not careful, they will get a bad reputation, and when someone asks about them, people on this board, and others, will say "Don't use them I've heard bad things..."

That's right. I know that I'll never go there now, or reccomend them either.

I have 20+ Chiefvalue orders without a single problem. I have not had to RMA anything or deal with their customer service, but if it's like Newegg's, I'm not worried.

Glad to hear it! I hope that my experience, once I recieve the boxes, are of a similar situation.

I will let everyone know.

Good luck with it. Hopefully the worst of the expereince is behind you. If you do need an RMA, you will have to pay return shipping unless you talk them into it. That's why I like buy.com as they just include a prepaid shipping label with your RMA; no hassles. But some of Chiefvalues one day sales have been hard to beat.

Oh yes. I was going to purchase a X800GTO agp card for 185 dollars, and a power supply for like 48. AND on that site I had to pay tax.

On Da Chief, I got the above card and Power Supply for 170 and 40, respectivly, and also added a nice Creative Audio 4.1 Speaker set... although now I wish I would've spent the money on cooling.

Live and learn!

OK so Yesterday I got the stuff... I had gotten the Power Supply the ngiht before actually, installed it and it worked BEAUTIFULLY.

BUT Yesterday I got the X800GTO and the Speakers.

Graphics card working pretty darn good... I think..

SPEAKERS?

CRAP! They are designed where 80% of the sound comes from the subwoofer, and just a BIT comes from the front/rear speakers... so the sound, while being full, is OVER bassy... I canot turn it up hardly at all without the wife complaining! ha ha

And, to top it all off, the left front speaker is BROKE. It keeps cutting in and OUT.

ANd now they tell me that I have to pay shipping to get it back....

BOLONEY!
