My computer wont load pool data

this morning I oke to find my computer not working. I turned it on and it loaded to the point of the black screen with white writing. I believe it is stuck at verifying DMI pool data, because normally the dotted line will load to the end of the screen. But it seems to have only 1/4 of the way. I've tried to open safe mode, but it won't come up as an option. I looked up repairing xp, from the xp disc, I followed the instructions given from the technical support part of the microsoft website but it didn't do anything. Recebtly I had a virus on my computer but it was sent tothe shop and fixed. I don't know how to fix my computer.

Try re-seating the RAM, possibly swap it out for different sticks.

Could be a hard drive issue also, you'd need to check it for errors using either a built-in BIOS check, or a boot disk that can scan for drive errors.
